How to Enter National Content and Evergreen Articles

Both National Content and Evergreen Articles can be added to your Editorial Timeline in ARC to meet specific editorial needs. Follow these steps to add either type of content.

National Content

  1. Navigate to the Issues Tab: Go to the Editorial portal in ARC and click on the Issues tab.
  2. Access the Editorial Timeline: Scroll down to the Editorial Timeline.
  3. Add a National Content Article:
    • Click the “Add” button at the top of the Editorial Timeline, next to the available pages listing.
    • In the Add Article pop-up, select “National Content” from the bullet-point list.
    • Choose the desired national content article and specify the number of pages needed.
  4. Confirm the Addition: Click “Add” to return to the Content Timeline, where the national content article will now appear.

Evergreen Articles

Evergreen articles are pre-published pieces that can fill editorial gaps, address page count increases, or provide flexibility close to the deadline.

  1. Access the Editorial Tab: Log in to ARC and navigate to the Editorial tab on the left-hand side.
  2. Locate the Issues Tab: Click on the Issues tab and scroll down to the Editorial Timeline.
  3. Add an Evergreen Article:
    • Click the “Add” button next to your available pages at the top of the Editorial Timeline.
    • In the Add Article pop-up, select “Evergreen Content” from the bullet-point list.
  4. Choose the Appropriate Article:
    • Use the drop-down menu to select an article that matches the current month’s theme or any other suitable theme.
    • ARC automatically filters out previously used articles to avoid duplication.
  5. Select Article Length: If available in multiple lengths, choose the desired number of pages.
  6. Add and Verify:
    • Click “Add” to include the article in your issue.
    • Return to the Issues Tab to confirm the article appears in the Editorial Timeline.

Key Notes:

  • National content is typically predetermined and thematic.
  • Evergreen articles should only be used as a backup option for unforeseen editorial needs, such as last-minute page count increases or article cancellations. Avoid relying on them regularly.
  • Evergreen articles are not posted online because they are not local. Publishing them on websites or landing pages reduces community engagement and risks multiple publishers posting identical content, which can detract from local uniqueness.
