Launch Issues: Assigning and Adding Content

  1. Access the Editorial Tab:
    1. Log in to ARC and click on the Editorial tab on the left-hand side.
  2. Navigate to the Issues Tab:
    1. Click on the Issues tab at the top.
    2. On the right side, you’ll see the editorial deadline date. This is when the ARC portal closes, and no further uploads will be allowed. Ensure all content is uploaded and copyedited before this date to meet print-ready standards.
  3. Monitor Key Deadlines:
    1. Headings like Content Review, Proof Delivery Date, and Final Round Proofs will populate once your magazine launch is official. Keep an eye on these dates as they’ll help you plan for upcoming deadlines.
  4. Track Page Allocation:
    1. At the top of the screen, you’ll find totals for Editorial Pages, Ad Pages, and Magazine Pages.
    2. Focus on Editorial Pages, which show how many pages are filled and how many remain available for content.
  5. Add an Article:
    1. Click the Add button.
    2. The Add Article prompt will appear with "Use Recipe" pre-selected.
  6. Create a Filler Title:
    1. Add a placeholder title (this can be changed later).
    2. Use the Recipe Dropdown to select the Launch Article Layout that is listed for your issue.
  7. Categorize the Article:
    1. Select a Web Category that aligns with your editorial (e.g., "Food and Drink" for a restaurant feature).
  8. Set Article Length:
    1. During the launch phase, the first article will default to 4 pages. Select 4 pages and click Add.
    2. When you are out of the launch program, you’ll have the flexibility to choose custom lengths.
  9. Assign Editorial Work:
    1. Assign the article to yourself or freelance writers/photographers.
    2. Since you are just launching, you probably don’t have a freelance staff yet, so you most likely will be doing all of the writing yourself.
  10. Link Client:
    1. If the article is client-related, link it to their Digital Business Listing by typing their name and selecting their business from the auto-populated list.
  11. Set a Writing Due Date:
    1. Choose a deadline at least 5 days before the editorial deadline to allow sufficient time for revisions.
  12. Add Assignment Details:
    1. Use the Description section to communicate requirements, such as word count and photo specifications. These requirements must be closely followed.
  13. Save and Send:
    1. Click Save and Send to finalize the assignment. Note: ARC does not autosave, so always save your work before logging out.

Important Notes:

  • Ensure your Available Pages are filled by the deadline.
  • Leave one page available for potential ads that may come in after the content deadline.
