Best Practices for Content Reviews
When your editorial content is ready to review, you will receive an email from ARC with the subject line “Changes Needed for (magazine name)”. In the body of the email you will see:
- A note from your content review team
- A link to access your content review in ARC
- Items that require your review (“Review Required”)
- Items that require action (“Action Required”)
- The deadline by which your edits are due
These items are required in order for the team to proceed with layout.
- Click the link in the Content Review email and you will be taken to ARC.
- Navigate to your magazine and current issue.
- ARC will navigate you automatically from open item to open item.
- If there is a note applied to a piece of content, ONLY that piece of content will be potentially editable.
- After you read the notes from your content team you can either:
- Make changes to your content and click Save. When you are done making edits select “Submit Edits”.
- If you decide NOT to make the edits, select the box indicating that we may need to make alterations to the content on your behalf.
- When you have reviewed all “Notes” and “Action Items” ARC will automatically provide you with the option to submit your edits back to the content team.
- At this point you can write a note to your content team with feedback. You can also click the green “Submit Review” button.
Common Questions
- How do I communicate back to the content team?
- When you submit your edits for your review, you will have the opportunity to compose a message to the content review team with your feedback.
- Do I have to make all the changes in one sitting?
- No. ARC will save your changes as you go and allow you to leave and come back later. Note, if multiple people have access and are interacting with the content review they can lock each other out by selecting no changes or completing the review. Communication is important and essential if working with other people on the completion of the review.
- What if I don’t get all my changes done by the deadline?
- As with your regular Content Deadline, you will be locked out of ARC and unable to make additional changes. In such cases, our internal team will make required alterations on your behalf so that layout can proceed.
- Why can't I make changes?
- If there is not an “Action Item” attached to that piece of content it will not be editable. If there is an “Action Item” attached and you are still unable to make changes, please take a screenshot of the content in question and the note attached to it and submit a support ticket through ARC Help.
- What if I disagree with the change requests?
- We always value your feedback and will be happy to assist you if we can via ARC Help. However, all items noted have been thoughtfully and thoroughly reviewed and more often than not will require alterations prior to moving forward.
- What if I can't get new content in time to complete the change?
- In order to provide the level of premium quality that our Publishers expect from our publications, our deadlines are not flexible. In these cases we can assist creative alternative solutions such as stock photography, changing a layout template or postponing the content for a later issue. Deadline extensions, though, are not provided.
