How to Enter Calendar of Events

The Events page spotlights local happenings for each month's issue. Submitting monthly events keeps readers engaged and lets you highlight community events hosted by advertisers. You can easily source local events via Google Search.

  1. Navigate to the Issues tab under the editorial section in ARC.
  2. Scroll down to the content list and click on the Events section.
  3. Set the number of pages by using the Pages dropdown. The page count is automatically set to one page but can be decreased or increased from 0-2 pages.
    1. For a ½ page,  include 3 events; for a full page, be sure to include 6 events.
  4. To add an entry, click the “Add” button.  The text box will appear for your first entry.
  5. Enter the title of the event.
  6. Choose between a Standard or Custom entry.
    1. Standard should be used for an event that happens one time.
    2. Custom should be used for an event that happens multiple days throughout the month. Custom can accommodate a range of dates or sporadic days.
  7. Enter the date of the event.
    1. For Standard events, this will be the single date that the event takes place.
    2. For Custom events, the date selection will help determine the order the event is listed in the magazine. Regardless if it is a custom or standard event, a date must be selected.
      1. For a Custom event, a line will appear as “Custom Date Text,” and you will enter the multiple dates that the event occurs. List the numerical days for each date the event occurs. Please also include ordinal indicators (th, st) for the numbered dates. The month should also be included once at the beginning of a string of dates.
        1. A range of dates would look like “April 4th-7th,” and you would select April 4th from the date selection.
        2. For sporadic dates, it would be listed as “May 8th, 12th, 17th,” and you would select May 8th from the date selection.
        3. If the dates occur on the same day each month, it would be listed as “Every Tuesday,” “Mondays and Wednesdays,” etc. If using days of the week, please select the 1st of the month so the event listing is at the beginning of the list.
  8. Enter the time of the event.
    1. For custom events, if there are multiple times, include those in the description of the event.
  9. Enter the location of the event.
    1. The location should be a generic location, like “Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts” or “Arrowhead Stadium.” Please enter the specific address if needed under the description section.
  10. Enter a Description of the event.
  11. Hit Save, ARC does not automatically save.
  12. If you are completed with the page, you can navigate to another content page. Or continue to enter more events click “Add”.
